Connecting channels
How Booking.com, Airbnb and Expedia get connected to your property, who does which step, and how far along it is.
Through the channel manager, your prices and availability go from Noren to Booking.com, Airbnb and Expedia, and bookings from those channels come back into your calendar. You then manage one calendar and one price, in one place.
How far along it is
The channel connection is not available yet. On "Integrations", Booking.com, Airbnb and Expedia therefore show "Not available yet". The connection goes live with the first property, and we then connect the channel together with you. Until then, bookings only come in directly, through your own booking engine. What guests write through a channel also only reaches "Messages" once the channel connection is there.
If a room is already on Airbnb or Vrbo, you can keep the calendars in step with iCal until then. That only passes on busy or free, not prices.
Who does what
Connecting a channel is partly manual work. Some of it only you can do, because it happens in your own account at the channel; Noren never stores your channel password.
| Channel | You do | Noren does |
|---|---|---|
| Booking.com | Accept the connectivity request in your property's extranet. After the first push, check in the extranet that prices and availability are right for the next seven days. | Match the room types and double-check them, then set the channel live. |
| Airbnb | Grant permission for the connection with your Airbnb account. | Link your listings to your room types. |
| Expedia | Have Expedia approve the connectivity request. | Match the room types. |
On "Channels" each channel has a list of these steps, with who does each one. You tick off your own steps there. Matching room types is done by hand and double-checked, because a wrong match sells the wrong room.
Once it runs
Every change in price or availability goes to the channel by itself. Every night at four, Noren compares the next thirty nights with what the channel thinks; differences appear under "Last night's comparison". If a push fails, the channel's own message is on its card, with the "Try again" button. More about the screen in Channels.
Not every channel takes everything. Child prices per age group, a minimum stay or a stop-sell do not exist everywhere; what a connected channel does not take is shown on the screen.
Good to know
- Ticking off steps and retrying an error is for whoever may manage connections. Staff can look along.
- Google does not run through the channel manager. You turn it on yourself, see Google free booking links.
