Payment provider
How guests pay you through your own payment provider, what you connect yourself, and how far along it is.
A guest who books through your booking engine pays at your own payment provider. The money goes straight to you; Noren never holds your guests' money.
How far along it is
No real payment provider is attached yet. The connection goes live with the first property. Until then every connection is a practice connection: everything works as it will later, but no money changes hands. On "Integrations" the payment provider then says it is a practice connection.
What you do
- Go to "Settings", card "Payment provider".
- Click "Connect". The payment provider's page opens; create or finish your account there.
- Come back and click "Connection is done". The card then shows "Connected".
With the practice connection there is one button: "Connect" takes you to a practice page, you finish the account there, and you come back with the connection already on "Connected".
Without a connected payment provider a guest cannot pay and your property stays shut: it is one of the steps before you publish. See also Publishing.
What Noren does
- When a guest books, Noren creates the payment at your provider and sends the guest to its payment page. Today the guest pays the full amount of the booking there, even if the rate plan mentions a deposit. See Deposit.
- The payment methods are ordered by what they cost you. A guest only gets methods where the money is settled straight away.
- If a guest cancels and money has to go back, the refund runs through your provider.
- Of the connection, Noren only stores that it exists: no account number and no balance.
The mandate is something else
The same page has the "Direct debit mandate". With it, Noren collects your subscription each month. You give it at the payment provider with "Give the mandate", after saving your billing details; your account number stays with the provider. The mandate is also a step before you publish. More in Subscription.
When the money arrives
In a booking's panel, the "Payments" tab shows In your account around and a date under each successful payment from a guest. It is an estimate: Noren adds the payment provider's term in working days to the day of payment, Monday to Friday, without public holidays. Next to it is what is usual: two working days. With the practice connection the term is simulated (two working days) and no money changes hands. If the payment provider does not know its term yet, the panel says so. A payment you recorded yourself and a refund get no date.
Good to know
- A property that is paused takes no payments.
- Whatever the payment provider charges per payment, it settles with you.
