Sign up

The sign-up form creates an account, a property and a trial in one go. You do not need to give payment details. If you already have an account, go in through "Sign in" (Sign in).

What you fill in

Under "Your house":

• "Name of your house": as it appears on your website. It also becomes your web address; if that is taken, we add a number.
• "Number of rooms": your plan follows from this. Up to 5 rooms is Starter, up to 15 Standard and up to 30 Plus. The monthly price is shown next to it. With more than thirty rooms, email us and we will agree a price that fits.
• "Country" and "Time zone": those of your property, not your own. Every date depends on the time zone, and the country decides things such as VAT and guest registration.
• "How do you want to pay?": "Monthly", or yearly with twelve months for the price of ten. The card next to it then shows the amount per year and what it saves per month, and the line under the button gives the terms of a yearly contract: it renews by a year, and you cancel with effect from the end of the year with one month's notice. If you came from the calculator on the pricing page with yearly chosen, it is already selected here. You only pay after the trial, and you can switch later under Settings (Subscription). In both cases the line under the button also names the annual indexation: on 1 January the consumer price index of Statistics Netherlands, plus the surcharge shown with it. That surcharge goes onto your contract and is also in the copy you receive after signing up.

Under "Your account" you fill in "Your name", your "Email address" and a "Password" of at least twelve characters.

Your business

Under "Your business" there are three things, none of them required:

• "Legal form": sole trader (in Spain autónomo), partnership, a company such as a B.V. or S.L., or something else.
• The VAT declaration: "I declare that my business is liable for VAT under the VAT number stated below and declares and pays the VAT on the letting of my accommodation itself. If that changes, I will report it immediately." This box belongs to a VAT number: enter a number and it is required; without a number you leave it empty.
• "VAT number": with or without the country code in front. We check it straight away in VIES, the European register, and record the outcome with the date.

With a valid number we reverse-charge the VAT on our invoices. Without a number, or with a number VIES does not know, we charge VAT as for a private customer; the sign-up simply goes ahead. If you are self-employed or a company in Spain, your NIF only works in VIES once you are registered in the ROI (modelo 036 or 037 at the Agencia Tributaria). The number is then already filled in on your billing details in Settings.

The tick boxes

While Noren is not live yet, there are two boxes, both required: that you are 18 or older and authorised to sign on behalf of the business, and the demo terms. Those are short: it is a free trial, no subscription comes into being, and you do not enter real guest data. Once Noren goes live there are three: your age, the terms and conditions and the data processing agreement. "Read" opens a text in a new tab. We record who agreed, when and which version was on screen, and send you a PDF of that version. If a text was updated while you had the form open, we ask you to tick again. We keep that proof, with the PDF, until five years after your subscription ends; after that a nightly task erases it.

Introduction code

Did another property give you a code, enter it under "Introduction code (optional)". The field shows straight away what discount it gives. A code we do not know stops the sign-up; leave the field empty if you have none.

After "Create my account"

If we need to confirm your address first, you see "Check your mail". Otherwise you land on Welcome straight away, where the setup begins.

Confirming your address

Click the link in the email. It opens a page that does nothing by itself: click "Confirm in this browser" and you are in, on Welcome.

If you signed up in the app on your phone, the link opens in the browser there and not in the app. On that page, click "Show a code for the app". Go back to the app, which is still on "Check your mail", fill in your email address and the six digit code and click "Confirm address". The code is valid for ten minutes and works once. Rather not open the link? Click "Send me a code" in the app and the code comes by email.

If your address was already confirmed, the page says so and you simply sign in.

The trial

The trial lasts the number of days shown on the form, currently fourteen. You get no invoice during it. Give the mandate for your subscription and the subscription starts after the trial. Without a mandate you pay nothing and your account stays with everything in it, but your property takes no bookings. More in Subscription.

While Noren is not live yet, the form says that signing up is for trying it out: no subscription is created.

Good to know

• If you are already signed in, the page shows a button to your property and "Sign out and start a new trial".
• Sign up on the Spanish page and your emails come in Spanish, while the dashboard opens in English.
